During the exploration of mixing images this way, I began to experiment with ideas where I can draw attention to certain attributes of the photograph. This family group was probably taken by my father and includes my brothers and several cousins/friends. Uncle Alan, with the dark sunglasses, was a very talented artist which his daughter (far left) Janet inherited. My mother is the only one on a chair so I’m guessing she was expecting me? The slice, as I like to call it picked out everyone except my mother. I wish I could give a reason why I did this, but it just felt right for the negative. Following my tutorial with Laura, it was suggested that ‘slice’ could warrant a page to itself. My book layout in A4 format did not work very well. Maybe this will look better printed big, say two metres or so.
