Mothers kitchen chair with her portrait blended in 2020

Mother and Chair

August 14, 2020 in Surfaces and Stratagies

In my last term, I photographed my mother’s chair, one of the few artefacts I have in my possession. This chair has a long history in the family. It was made by my great grandfather and my mother used it in her kitchen to read or just rest. The portrait of my mother was probably taken when she was around 18 so that would be the late 1930s. I’ve actually used a slightly different version of the chair as I had already used this last term. I prefer this version to the other so might keep it. Laura has said it will be ok and liked the image, saying my mother’s portrait reminded her of skin stretched over the chair image.
